Introduction to Operators

Operator: - Introduction

An operator is a symbol that tells the compiler to perform some mathematical or logical operation on the values or variable. The values or variable on which operator perform a specific operation is called operand. Normally operators are used to form arithmetic or logical expression.

                        Value1                        Operator                    Value2

                        Operand 1                                                       Operand 2

If the operator performs operation on a single operand it is called unary operator. If operator performs operation on two operand it is called binary operator. If operator performs operation on three operand it is called ternary operator.

Types of Operators
‘C’ language supports a rich set of operators. They are classified into different categories based on their working. They are:-
1].Arithmetic Operator
2].Relational Operator
3].Logical Operator
4].Assignment Operator
5].Increment/Decrement Operator
6].Conditional Operator
7].Bitwise Operator
8].Special Operator
